Kids say (and do) the darndest things! Ridiculous, thought-provoking, amusing, certainly unforgettable…except we do forget. Unless we write them down.

The original Green Corduroy Book was just a blank book, bound in green corduroy, and probably intended for addresses that a young mother found unused in a kitchen cupboard thirty years ago. But she began to fill it with the amusing anecdotes of everyday life with her kids and just like that, the little blank book became a treasure.

We offer today’s darling, hand-bound Green Corduroy Book in honor of the keepsake our mom created thirty years ago. We hope that, as you fill them with your stories, the pages of this book will become priceless to your family too.

Green Corduroy stories from moms everywhere…

Michael, 4 years old

frogWe passed an impressively red, shiny, squared-off semi tractor with a virtually
empty flatbed trailer. I could see Michael studying it. After we passed it, he
exclaimed, “Mama! I just saw a naked fire engine!”

Molly, 5 years old

duck“What’s for supper, Mom?”
“Soup.”
“But, WHY are we having soup?”
“Why do you think?”
“Because you HATE me.”

From Day One…

The first entry in our Corduroy Book is from the day Jace was born. As I held my precious new baby for the first time, a warm…wet feeling spread across my exhausted, somewhat overwhelmed chest. “Um…he’s leaking fluids on me. Is that okay?” I stuttered. The nurse gave me a knowing look and, trying not to laugh, replied “You mean he peed on you, dear?”

Joseph, 3 1/2 years old

Climbing down from the table after breakfast, Joseph did a bit of a double-take, then gingerly  stepped down beside his nine-month old sister crawling on the floor under the table. Grinning up at me, he exclaimed, “And Mom, I even remembered that Hannah is NOT a stool!”
